For a limited time, fans of acclaimed New York City chef Sarah Simmons' Rise Gourmet Goods and Bake Shop on Harden Street can attempt to recreate some of Simmons' signature restaurant fare in their own homes.

Williams-Sonoma has picked up part of Simmons' City Grit product line, which includes her eateries' fried chicken kits. The kits include Simmons' signature blend of spices and specially seasoned flour used to make the chef's fried chicken, which is served at both of her New York restaurants — City Grit and Birds & Bubbles — and featured in Columbia at Rise on the Gamecock sandwich and the fried chicken breakfast sandwich. The kits are available in the traditional blend as well as in a gluten-free option.

In addition to the fried chicken kits, Williams-Sonoma is selling City Grit's line of dipping sauces, including the Alabama white, chipotle barbecue and sweet and spicy mustard. Simmons uses the sweet and spicy mustard sauce at Rise on the "Roast Beast" sandwich and the chipotle barbecue sauce on Rise’s Home Sweet Home pulled pork sandwich.

Earlier this year, Simmons was selected as one of 10 chefs in Williams-Sonoma's inaugural Chef’s Collective – a group of culinary experts who share their expertise and innovative ideas to advise on the brand’s marketing and product development initiatives.

Simmons grew up in Columbia and graduated from Spring Valley High School. In 2010, she won Food & Wine’s Home Cook Superstar contest and two years later was named by the magazine as one of America’s Best New Cooks and as one of the 50 Best Chefs in New York City. In October, Simmons and former Oak Table pastry chef Charley Scruggs opened Rise, calling it a “Southern boulangerie” gourmet goods and bake shop.
