Shop Around: Tony’s Pizza closes after 35 years

Long-time downtown eatery Tony's Pizza has closed after 35 years of business.

Officially named Tony's Pizza & Italian Eatery and also known as Tony's Pizza Downtown, the restaurant located at 1120 Washington St. in Washington Plaza opened in 1981. Tony’s was family owned and operated by Mike and Lynda Creech who, according to sources with City Center Partnership and other area business owners, simply decided it was time to retire. The Creeches could not immediately be reached for comment.
