New type of thrift store opens in Columbia

On July 28, South Carolina welcomed its first Teen Challenge Super Thrift in the East Point Shopping Center at 7531 Garners Ferry Rd.

Promoting itself as a place where "shopping can change lives," Super Thrift operates in connection with Teen Challenge, a non-profit Christian-based substance abuse recovery program for families and teens. All proceeds from Super Thrift support families and teens who are involved in Teen Challenge recovery programs.

Teen Challenge operates six Florida Super Thrift operates eight locations--six in Florida and two Georgia--in addition to the Columbia location. The 15,000-square-foot facility on Garners Ferry Road is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and is closed Sundays.
