Salud Mexican Kitchen to open Vista location

Columbia fans of Camden's Salud Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Lounge will soon be able to get a taste of the eatery closer to home.

Salud manager Gerardo Gomez confirmed to The State on Tuesday that the restaurant will open a location in the Aloft Hotel at the corner of Lady and Lincoln Streets in the Vista. The location is the second for Salud which opened at 1011 Broad St. in Camden in 2011.

The Columbia location may look a little different than the Camden location, however, according to Gomez who will be partner in the Columbia restaurant.

"It's a work in progress right now," Gomez said. "It's still going to have a tequila bar with craft cocktails and authentic Mexican food but we are probably going to focus on smaller plates. We may go with a different name, as well."

Gomez said the restaurant has a target open date of December but realizes the actual open date may be closer to mid January along the timeline of Aloft's opening.

"We want to bring Columbia something different and give everybody a feel of what we've accomplished here in Camden," Gomez said.
