barre3 fitness studio opens Lake Murray location

Local barre3 fitness studio owner Lauren Truslow opened a second area barre3 at 2900 Dreher Shoals Rd. on Monday.

"Expanding into the Lake Murray area was an obvious choice of where our next studio should be," said Truslow, who opened her first barre3 studio at 3000 Rosewood Drive in October 2014. "Many of our clients drive a very long way to take a barre3 studio class, and I don’t want distance to prevent someone from experiencing this workout. ... Our new location presents an opportunity to create an amazing, inviting space to serve the Lake Murray area."

A modern evolution of the ballet barre workout, barre3 workouts balance strength training through isometric holds and small, one-inch movements with stretches inspired by yoga and Pilates. Since opening as a single studio in Portland, Ore., in 2008, barre3 now operates over 100 locations globally. In addition to Truslow’s two Columbia-area locations, a third South Carolina location operates in Greenville.

To celebrate their opening, barre3 Lake Murray is offering free classes with complimentary childcare through September 4 as well as raffle prizes throughout the week. Classes will run seven days a week as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 6:45 p.m. with childcare available during many classes each week.
