Prisma Health announces new CEO to lead charge at Sumter hospital in wake of pandemic

A new CEO is taking over for Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital beginning Monday.

Joseph DiPaolo takes the lead role of the Sumter hospital with more more than 30 years experience working in healthcare.

He previously served as president at Atlantic Health System, headquartered in New Jersey, where he improved ratings, quality and efficiency, according to a news release from Prisma. He holds a bachelor and master’s degree in business administration and is married with two children.

Prisma is South Carolina’s largest healthcare provider with nearly 30,000 employees and 18 hospitals sprawled across the state and serves approximately 1.2 million patients each year.
