‘Incendiary or explosive device’ used to access Edisto Island ATM, police say

AP

People in the area of Enterprise Bank of South Carolina on Edisto Island are being asked to avoid the area after the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said a man tried to break into the ATM using an “incendiary or explosive device.”

In a tweet, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a break-in report at the bank at 804 Oyster Park Drive at about 9 a.m. Christmas Day. That’s where they said deputies determined an unknown man used some sort of device to access the ATM.

Nothing appears to have been stolen and no one has reported injuries, the sheriff’s office tweeted.

The sheriff’s office said there is no detailed description of the suspect.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad is responding to the area before investigations can continue, they said.
