Macy’s stores are closing nationwide due to coronavirus outbreak

Macy’s is closing all of its stores nationwide in order to try to curb the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

Stores, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Bluemercury, and other outlets will close starting Tuesday through March 31, according to USA Today.

“The health and safety of our customers, colleagues and communities is our utmost priority. As a result of the recent COVID-19 developments, we have decided to temporarily close our stores,” Jeff Gennette, Macy’s Inc. chairman and CEO, said in a news release. “We will work with government and health officials to assess when we will reopen our stores and safely bring our colleagues back to work.”

Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury will still be available online through macys.com, bloomingdales.com and bluemercury.com, according to the news release.
