Chipotle wants to help you give back to medical workers during coronavirus pandemic

While the plight of health care workers has been well covered during the coronavirus pandemic, nothing can adequately capture what it’s like for medical professionals on the frontline.

Some have moved out of their family homes and into tents, campers and cars to keep their loved ones safe. Others have faced the threat of losing custody of their children simply for being frontline hospital workers.

Their sacrifices are many and Chipotle is providing a small way to say thank you — free burritos.

Order a burrito online or through the Chipotle app from April 21-26 and name it “4HEROES,” and the company will give one to a health care worker for free, Chipotle said in a news release.

“We’ve seen firsthand how real food can go a long way in lifting the spirits of our country’s incredibly resilient healthcare community,” chief marketing officer Chris Brandt said in the release. “We’re excited to give fans another opportunity to support our heroes by simply naming their burrito.”

Health care workers will be able to sign up to receive their free burritos on Nurses Day, May 6, the release said. Chipotle will give away up to 100,000 burritos.
