Columbiana Centre, Columbia Place malls reopen for business

The doors reopened over the weekend at Columbiana Centre mall, the Midlands’ largest shopping destination.

The move comes after S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster lifted restrictions last week on retail and jewelry stores because of the coronavirus. Restaurants around the state also are able to reopen for outdoor dining Monday.

Columbia Place Mall, located on Two Notch Road, reopened for business April 24 for retail and jewelry stores.

Both Columbiana Centre, located on Harbison Boulevard, and Columbia Place are open each 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Columbiana Centre has implemented new safety measures including hand-sanitizing stations, touch-free interactions, frequent and intense cleanings and social distancing directions.

“We are working diligently to provide a safe, clean environment where people feel comfortable shopping, dining and enjoying their time,” according to an announcement on the Columbiana Centre website.

Not every store at Columbiana Centre is back open for business, but more than 20 shops and food options are open, according to the Columbiana Centre website. They include Belk, Altar’d State, Forever 21, DTLR and Chick-fil-A.

The Midlands’ only Macy’s store, at Columbia Place, reopened Monday.

Food court seating area is still closed at both malls. But the tenants that choose to reopen will have food for carryout.

Both places have asked customers to adhere to social distancing guidelines, which recommend people keep at least 6 feet of space between one another.
