Netflix show ‘Social Distance’ in the works – remotely. Twitter users say ‘too soon’
A show about social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic is coming to Netflix.
Critics say it’s too soon.
The team behind “Orange Is the New Black” will produce “Social Distance,” the streaming service announced Tuesday.
“Our job as storytellers is to reflect reality, and in this new, bizarre, bewildering reality we are all experiencing, we feel passionate about finding connection as we all remain at a distance,” the producers said in a news release.
The executive producers include Jenji Kohan, who created “Orange is the New Black,” and Tara Herrmann, Hilary Weisman Graham and Blake McCormick.
The cast and crew will practice social distancing while they produce the show about social distancing. Writers won’t meet in person, the director will direct remotely, and the actors will film themselves at home, the creators said.
“The experience of social distancing is currently universal, but no individual story is the same,” the creators said. “Through a broad spectrum of tales and moments, some seismic and some mundane, we hope to capture a moment in time.”
Critics say it’s too soon, while others thought the show sounds promising.
