If you haven’t been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus yet, a vaccine drive this weekend is adding an extra incentive.

Those getting the shot at a Lower Richland vaccine drive can also receive free food and a shot at a $100 gift card.

The vaccine drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lower Richland sheriff’s substation, 2615 Lower Richland Blvd. in Hopkins. The substation is next to Lower Richland High School. Shots are free and available without an appointment.

Prisma Health will provide the Pfizer vaccine to adults and children ages 5 and older who need their first or second dose. Those eligible for a booster shot or third dose can also receive one.

Those getting their first shot who are Richland County residents are eligible for a $100 gift card as part of a county incentive program.

Local nonprofit Carolina for All and Beulah Baptist Church will provide grocery bags containing produce, meat, canned goods and other food items for those at the vaccine drive, available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Saturday’s vaccine drive is co-hosted by Richland County Councilwoman Chakisse Newton and state House Rep. Jermaine Johnson, D-Richland.
