Man followed home, robbed, shot

A man who said he was followed home to the Gadsden community Friday from a Garners Ferry Road Walmart told deputies he was robbed then shot.

The man told Richland County deputies he noticed a car following him from the discount store’s gas station as he walked to his home on Goodwin Way.

As he was about to go inside the house, two men got out, pushed him down and stole his wallet, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said. As they were about to leave, one of the attackers turned around and shot the man in the lower body.

He was taken to Palmetto Health Richland hospital. Wilson said his condition was not known. The spokesman provided no other details.
