Richland deputies conducting traffic safety checkpoints

In an effort to make Richland County roads safer, deputies will have checkpoints this week, according to officials.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Safety Unit will conduct traffic safety checkpoints Friday and Saturday evenings near Lowman Home Barn Road and Fortress Drive, according to a news release from the department. The checkpoints will be near the Heritage at Lowman in the White Rock area near Lake Murray.

The Traffic Safety Unit works to change drivers’ behavior and reduce traffic collisions and fatalities, including encouraging drivers and passengers to wear seat belts.
