Midlands man receives lottery tickets for birthday, wins $150,000

A Camden resident celebrating his birthday is $150,000 thanks to one of the gifts, according to officials.

The man said his wife and children gave him scratch-off tickets for his birthday, according to a news release from South Carolina Education Lottery.

After he had a slice of birthday cake, he sat down at the kitchen table and started scratching through his tickets.

He eventually scratched a $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks card and realized he won $150,000.

“It’s the best birthday I’ve ever had,” he said. “But my beautiful family, that’s my real gift.”

The odds of winning $150,000 in this game is one in 600,000.

Lottery officials said there are six other $150,000 prizes for the $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks game still remaining.

The ticket was purchased at Youngs Convenience Store, 1070 U.S. 1, in Lugoff. The store will receive $1,500 in commission for selling the claimed ticket.
