Recent USC grad dies in Charlotte-area crash near hospital
Park Road Extension in the 10000 block was closed in both directions at 7 a.m. Tuesday while police investigated a one-car accident in which a Charlotte man was thrown from the vehicle and died.
The victim has been identified as Kyle Lord, 25, of the Quail Hollow area of south Charlotte. The vehicle is registered one of his parents, officials said. WBTV says Lord is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina.
The crash site was reported about 7 a.m. at the entrance of the Willow Ridge apartments Park Crossings Drive. That’s just north of Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville.
Investigators say the SUV ran off the road, hit a tree, a brick sign and then flipped several times. The driver was ejected, and died at the scene by Medic.
A nearby worker found the man's body in a parking lot, WBTV reports. Police have not said what contributed to the crash and no other vehicles were involved.
