Shots fired at apartment complex

A Columbia man has been arrested for firing a handgun in and around the South Beltline Boulevard apartments where he lives.

Richland County deputies responded to a call at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to department spokesman Curtis Wilson. They were told Brandon Foster had fired a round into the ceiling of the apartments at 1707 S. Beltline Blvd. where lives before going outside and firing several more rounds into the air, Wilson said. The shot Foster fired in the apartment pierced the ceiling and entered the floor of the apartment above.

Deputies said Foster appeared intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
