28-year-old dies after driving car into Richland County house

A 28-year-old woman died Friday night after the car she was driving ran off the road and hit an abandoned house in Richland County, officials say.

Mekahya Deonnese Prince, of Elgin, died of blunt head trauma, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Saturday.

The collision happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Prince was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro on Bluff Road, traveling west, when her car ran off the road and hit an abandoned house at the corner of Bluff and Flamingo Drive, the Highway Patrol says.

She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.

Prince was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour after the crash, Watts said.
