Officials: Mulch pile fire on S.C. 34 in Newberry not dangerous

A mulch pile on fire S.C. 34 near I-26 poses no danger and is being monitored, officials say.

Drivers can expect to see smoke and occasional flames coming from the pile which spontaneously combusted, but the fire is being closely monitored, according to an advisory issued by the Newberry County Sheriff's office on Thursday.

In addition, residents can expect smoke in the area. The pile does not contain hazardous materials, the advisory said.
