27-year-old driver killed in crash was not wearing seat belt, coroner says
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has named a woman killed in a crash on Fernandina Road on Wednesday.
Alexandra Hammond, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene from traumatic injuries she suffered in the crash. The vehicle driven by Hammond left the road toward the right side, Fisher said. When she over corrected, her vehicle crossed the center line and was hit by an oncoming vehicle, Fisher said.
Hammond was not wearing her seat belt when the crash happened, but her passenger was, Fisher said. The passenger was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
