Columbia will be in media spotlight during eclipse — even in Japan

Columbia will be getting plenty of media coverage during Monday's total eclipse.

Among media coming to Columbia:

• ABC News national will be at Spirit Communications Park during the Fireflies game.
• An Australian TV station will broadcast from Soda City Eclipse Viewing Festival in Cayce.
• A Japanese news network will be at the SC State Museum.
• CNN Digital is sending a reporter
• Southern Living and the New York Times will have correspondents at Riverbanks Zoo.

Columbia — considered by astronomy experts as one of the best places to view Monday's coast-to-coast eclipse — also has been mentioned in hundreds of regional, national and international media reports in advance of the event.
