Missing swimmer found after being separated from boat on Enoree River
A man who went swimming in the Enoree River was found alive Sunday.
The man went for a swim and was separated from the boat, that had put in the Enoree River at Brazzleman’s Bridge, according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders from Newberry and Fairfield counties, along with the sheriff’s offices from both counties and the SC Department of Natural Resources, searched for the missing man on the Enoree and Broad rivers. SCDNR used an aircraft in the search because of the wide area.
The missing swimmer was spotted walking on Old Blair Road in the Mt. Pleasant Section of Newberry County, according to the sheriff’s office. The swimmer found his way out of the river and through the woods to the roadway, which is off of SC 34 near the Fairfield/Newberry County line.
