EdVenture is looking to a future with facilities in new locations in the state.

The non-profit organization announced on Tuesday plans to open an EdVenture satellite museum in Hartsville in 2018 and in Myrtle Beach in 2019.

The Hartsville children’s museum will focus on exhibits and programs for children aged 8 and under, EdVenture said in a news release on Tuesday.

Hartsville already has secured a location in downtown Hartsville for the museum and secured local commitments for $1 million to renovate the property, build exhibits and provide admission discounts for “economically fragile families, ” EdVenture said. Hartville also has pledged to pay some of the satellite facility’s operating expenses.

EdVenture merged with the Children’s Museum of South Carolina in Myrtle Beach in March, 2017.
