Why classes at White Knoll High School were interrupted
A small fire in a cafeteria oven led to a brief interruption of classes Wednesday at White Knoll High School.
Students and staff at the school in Red Bank were evacuated outside for 45 minutes as a precaution even though the fire was extinguished quickly, Lexington 1 spokeswoman Mary Beth Hill said.
Fire officials determined an oven malfunction caused the fire, she said.
Lunch was brought in with assistance from nearby Carolina Middle School, she said.
