UPDATE: Ex-boyfriend of Elgin stabbing victim caught
The ex-boyfriend of an Elgin woman stabbed multiple times Tuesday afternoon was arrested during a traffic stop on I95, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
Alvin Rabon, 51, was charged with attempted murder and burglary after allegedly forcing his way into the apartment of a former girlfriend and stabbing her multiple times.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said Richland County sheriff's deputies responded to a residence in the 10000 block of Two Notch Road in Elgin at 1 p.m. in reference to a 911 hang up.
Lawrence said when deputies arrived at the residence they discovered a woman laying next to a telephone with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.
The victim was responsive and was transported to a local area hospital to receive treatment for her wounds. The victim's current condition is unknown at this time.
Late Tuesday night, Lott said information from concerned citizens led to Rabon’s arrest which was accomplished with the help of the state Law Enforcement Division, the South Carolina Highway Patrol Hampton County Sheriff’s office and the Yamassee Police Department.
