Midday house fire in Lugoff damages home’s second floor

provided

A midday house fire at a two-story home in Lugoff caused damage to the home’s second floor on Tuesday, officials say.

A neighbor heard an explosion and saw smoke coming from the home on Pine Grove Road, Fire Chief Dennis Ray said in a statement released Tuesday. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about an hour and had left the scene by about 3 p.m., Ray said.

No one was home during the fire and there were no injuries. Two dogs were rescued from the home as firefighters entered the residence to search for anyone who might be home, Ray said.

The structure sustained damage to its second floor and had some water damage on its first floor. The fire appears to have started in the room above the home’s garage, Ray said. The department is continuing to investigate.
