A man was arrested in connection with multiple drug charges, including possession and trafficking, after officers found several types of drugs in a paint can in the man’s car after he was found asleep in a parking lot in the car, authorities said.

Robert Musser, 38, was charged with possession of MDMA, unlawful possession of prescription pills, two counts of possession of controlled substances, manufacture/distribution of cocaine-based substance, and trafficking of cocaine base or meth, according to a police report.

Musser was also cited for public intoxication, having an open container, and possessing drug paraphernalia, Myrtle Beach authorities said.

While on patrol about 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, police saw a suspicious-looking car in the parking lot at 300 Kings Highway, and officers noted the car was running with its lights on, police said.

Police said Musser was asleep in the driver’s seat of the car, and it took several tries to wake him up.

Musser appeared “highly intoxicated,” and officers said there was a clear plastic cup in the cup holder, which Musser told them contained vodka, according to the police report.

Musser was then arrested in connection with public intoxication, but a search of his car later revealed a paint can, which was found in the floor of the car near the center console, police said.

Authorities said the paint can had a false bottom and contained methamphetamine, rocks that tested positive for cocaine, prescription drugs Diazepam and Alprazolam, two pills that tested positive for MDMA, pills identified as Gabapentin, marijuana resin, and a vile of clear liquid called “rush,” according to the report.

Police also found zip bags and weighing scales, and Musser “consented over” more than $1,300 cash, which was near the drugs authorities found, police said.
