Officials discover body at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter

Officials discovered the body of a deceased retiree in the Family Camp area at Shaw Air Force Base Thursday afternoon.

The body was found by security forces assigned to Shaw Air Force Base who responded to a call around 11:53 a.m. Thursday, according to a release.

The name of the deceased is being held until 24 hours after the next of kin can be notified, officials said. No foul play is suspected.
