Carowinds’ new ride Fury 325 gets stuck for 3rd time

For the third time in just over a week, Carowinds’ newest thrill ride Fury 325 got stuck mid-ride.

Park goer Aimee Eudy told reporter Alexa Ashwell Fury 325 became stuck Saturday as soon as she got off of the ride.

The ride appeared to be stuck at the top of a steep incline. A park official did not know if riders were on Fury 325 at the time.

The Herald’s news partner, WSOC-TV Channel 9, reached out to Carowinds and a spokesperson said the ride stopped because a safety mechanism detected a problem.

A spokesperson previously described safety mechanisms that are set up to automatically stop the ride if a problem is detected.

Eudy said she witnessed the ride stall more than once.

“I was debating whether I was going to get on it or not because it's a scary thing when it gets stuck when you're in the line and then it gets stuck directly after you get off. It's a scary thing,” Eudy said.

A statement from Carowinds officials read: “The safety of our guests and associates at Carowinds Amusement Park is paramount. Our rides have a sophisticated, computerized system that can cause ride stoppages as a precautionary measure.”
