Cayce Councilman Tim James is stepping down shortly after five years in office to take a job in Florida.
He plans to become public safety director for a community association, he said Tuesday.
James is a former Cayce police chief, assistant Lexington County sheriff and assistant State Law Enforcement Division director.
An election to fill his council post will be set once he steps down.
