Officials probe racist photo at private Greenville school

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) – Administrators at a private school in Greenville are investigating a photo of black students with nooses drawn around their necks.

The Greenville News reported (http://grnol.co/1bCSe93) that administrators at Christ Church Episcopal Church learned of the photograph Monday.

Headmaster Leonard Kupersmith said the photo was created on the social media messaging app Snapchat and had been shared through text messages.

The picture showed four male high school students sitting next to each other in class. The modified picture has nooses drawn around their necks. A swastika appears in the corner of the photo.

Kupersmith told parents in an email Tuesday that it was “repugnant.”

He says officials think they have identified the student who created the photo. They have not finished their investigation or determined a punishment.
