Four students sent to hospital after school-bus collision

Four students were sent to the hospital early Tuesday morning after a school bus was involved in a collision, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol officials.

L. Cpl. David Jones, a highway patrol spokesman, said the collision happened just before 8 a.m. as the bus was transporting students to the Bethel-Hanberry Elementary School. The bus was stopped near Blythewood Road and I-77 with another car in front of it. The bus driver then moved forward and struck the vehicle ahead of it causing minor damage.

Jones said the students were sent to the hospital for precautionary measure, and the driver of the other vehicle was not injured. The bus driver has been charged with improper start and stop.
