Riverbanks Zoo reveals names for African lion cubs
Nearly 14,000 votes were cast, and now Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens is proud to announce the top three names you chose for the zoo’s female African lion cubs.
Introducing ... Amara, Asha and Zari.
Amara is a Nigerian name for grace; Asha is Swahili for life or lively; Zari is Swahili for golden.
The three cubs were born to the lioness Thabisa and father, Zuri, in mid-April and made their official public debut July 10. The cubs are the first litter of cubs born at the Columbia zoo since June 2008.
