A pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car Saturday night was lying in the roadway, according to troopers.

The collision happened around 9:20 p.m. on U.S. 301 near June Burn Road, about 60 miles east of Columbia, according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
