Folks driving into downtown Columbia will notice possible traffic delays starting Monday as multiple lanes of Bull Street will be affected by construction.

Columbia water crews are beginning repair work on stormwater infrastructure and water lines at the corner of Franklin and Bull streets. The goal of the work is to reduce flooding and improve water quality in the Cottontown area.

Drivers should expect inbound travel lanes on Bull Street to be shifted for about a month.

The far right lane of Bull Street from Victoria Street to just past Franklin Street will be closed, narrowing the road to just two inbound lanes.

Outbound lanes, headed toward SC-277, will not be affected.

The city expects traffic delays to last up to 30 days. Drivers are asked to pay attention to detour signs and be patient while traveling.
