Pedestrian hit and killed in Sumter County
A pedestrian died after being hit by a car in Sumter County on Tuesday.
The deadly incident happened around 9:20 p.m. on Spring Hill Road, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
A 2013 Nissan traveling west on Spring Hill hit a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway, Collins said. The pedestrian died at the scene. The identity will be released by the Sumter County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin is notified.
No charges will be filed against the driver because the pedestrian was in the roadway, Collins said.
