Trailer burns down in Columbia; occupant escapes

A mobile home burned down Sunday night in a sparsely populated area near Decker Boulevard and Percival Road, but the building’s occupant escaped injury, according to the Columbia Fire Department.

The Richland County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze at 290 Martin Road, Columbia fire spokesman Brick Lewis said. Lewis said the call came in about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

“It’s a total loss,’’ he said of the trailer. “There was nothing at the point when I left to believe there was anything suspicious.’’
