Man dies in Midlands house fire Christmas Day, coroner says

A Florida man was killed on Christmas after a Sumter County home caught on fire, according to a statement from the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

Ronald Holcomb, Jr., 33, of Port Orange, died in the home on the 400 block of Marion Street in Pinewood after the Christmas Day fire.

The fire is still being investigated by the Sumter Fire Department and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, according to the statement. An autopsy will be performed for the case Thursday.

Holcomb’s family has been notified of his death, according to the statement.
