Man who died in Richland County crash was shot before the accident, deputies say

A man who died after an early morning car crash Saturday in Richland County was found to have a gunshot wound, according to a statement from the local sheriff’s department.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the deceased as 37-year-old Donald Antonio Young, according to the statement.

Young died after being involved in a single-car crash on Meeting House and Clarkson Road, according to the statement. After an autopsy, the coroner said that Young had been shot in the upper body before the crash.

It is unclear when or where Young was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Richland County deputies are investigating the incident as a homicide.
