One of Columbia’s favorite breakfast joints is celebrating a milestone this weekend: 1 million eggs cracked.

Eggs Up Grill on Devine Street is giving away coffee cups to its first 100 customers on Saturday morning in honor of serving its 1 millionth egg.

The South Carolina-based restaurant chain is known for its broad breakfast menu (served all day!) and super-friendly service.

The Devine Street restaurant, the first in the Midlands, opened in 2014. There are two other Eggs Up locations in Columbia, on Forest Drive and at Killian’s Crossing, and one in Lexington on Columbia Avenue.

All locations are open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.

By the way, we know you’re wondering about those 1 million eggs. What can you do with 1 million eggs, besides scramble them, you ask?

Well...

Take 500,000 egg salad sandwiches to a picnic.

Bake 12 million chocolate chip cookies and win your neighbors’ love forever.

Throw eggs at 83,333 houses and win your neighbors’ ire forever. (Assuming a reasonable dozen-eggs-per-house ratio.) (This is probably illegal.)

OK, that’s enough, but just so you know, hens in their egg-laying prime can be expected to lay somewhere around 200 to 300 eggs per year.
