A man was hit and killed in the Cayce area of Lexington County on Tuesday evening, according to troopers.

It happened around 7 p.m. on Old Frink Street near Bell Street in Cayce, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins of the S.C. Highway Patrol. That’s off U.S. 321 just south of the city of Cayce.

An eastbound Dodge pickup hit the man, who was in the roadway, Collins said.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the pedestrian Wednesday morning as 58-year-old Terry R. Sparks. Sparks was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car that hit Sparks stopped to render aid, Fisher said.

There was no word on charges. The incident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
