Man identified in fatal SUV-moped crash on Garners Ferry
The moped driver killed Saturday morning in a collision with an SUV on Garners Ferry Road was identified by Richland County coroner Gary Watts as Robert Jenkins, Jr., 53, of Eastover.
The crash happened around 9:40 am on the 11000 block of Garners Ferry Road in Eastover.
Both the moped and a Lexus SUV were headed toward Columbia on Garners Ferry Road. The SUV ran into the rear of the moped fatally injuring Jenkins, SC Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Hanna Wimberly said.
Jenkins was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, Watts said.
The S.C. Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
