Pedestrian hit and killed while crossing Midlands highway, troopers say
A pedestrian died after being hit by a car while crossing a highway in Newberry County late Saturday, according to troopers.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. on C.R. Koon Highway near S.C. 391, according to Lance Cpl. Justin Sutherland of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The unidentified pedestrian was crossing C.R. Koon Highway when he or she was hit by a westbound Nissan sedan, Sutherland. The pedestrian was taken to a Newberry hospital but later died.
The identity will be released by the Newberry County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin is notified.
No charges will be filed against the driver, Sutherland said.
