CBS News co-anchor Norah O’Donnell was hospitalized for emergency surgery while visiting South Carolina, according to media reports and social media postings.

O’Donnell, who co-hosts CBS This Morning, said in a post on her Instagram story that she had emergency surgery to remove her appendix at the Medical University of South Carolina, reports WLTX.

An MUSC spokeswoman confirmed to WCSC that O’Donnell was admitted early Friday for an appendectomy and was discharged just after 4 p.m.

O’Donnell posted a photo of her in a hospital gown to her Instagram story, with the caption: “Not what we planned for spring break,” reports PEOPLE magazine.

Her husband, Geoff Tracy, posted photos to his Twitter page later, showing O’Donnell giving a thumbs-up after the surgery and commending MUSC and its staff.

O’Donnell has co-anchored CBS This Morning since 2012, and could be in line to be the next host of the CBS Evening News, reports the New York Post.

There was no word on when O’Donnell would return to the morning news show.
