Midlands 3-year-old dies one week after tree falls on house, coroner says

A Sumter toddler is dead after a tree fell on his home, according to a statement from the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

Alexander Sheptock, 3, died Friday at Prisma Health Richland, according to the statement.

Alexander was in his home April 19 on Blanche Road in Sumter when a tree fell onto the building, according to the statement. He was taken to the hospital, where he stayed in critical condition.

TV Station WLTX reported that Alexander’s sister was also hit by the tree, but she was able to get out and find help.
