Sept. 1 ballot to fill Cayce Council vacancy

Voters in part of Cayce go to the polls Sept. 1 to chose a new City Council member.

The ballot will decide the successor to Tim James, who is stepping down to take a new job in Florida after five years in office on the five-member council.

Candidate filing for the nonpartisan race begins June 19 and ends June 29.

The winner will serve three years as the representative of council district 4, an area stretching across the south side of the Lexington County community of 13,000 residents.
