West Columbia Riverwalk closed after storms cause flooding, damages (+ video)
The West Columbia Riverwalk has been closed after water levels have flooded the area causing some damage to parts of the park, according to city police officials.
Capt. Scott Morrison, a West Columbia Police Department spokesman, said portions of the park became flooded after Wednesday evening’s storms, which brought as much as 5 inches to some parts of West Columbia and Lexington.
City maintenance workers are currently making repairs to portions of the park so it may reopen as soon as flood levels recede. There is no word on when the park will reopen, but The State will provide you with updates as they become available.
