1 dead in Edgefield County shooting after fight

EDGEFIELD, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say a 29-year-old man has been shot and killed after an argument between two men.

Edgefield County Coroner David Burnett told media outlets that Leric Merriweather was shot in the chest Saturday night and died a short time later at the hospital.

Deputies say another person was grazed by a bullet during the shooting.

Authorities say the suspect shooter ran away, but turned himself in to police a short time later. No charges have been filed as detectives continue to investigate exactly what happened.
