The City of Columbia Water Works lifted a boil water advisory Wednesday morning for customers of Yale Avenue, from Kalmia Drive to Wilmot Avenue.

Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples indicate the system is safe for drinking and cooking purposes, according to a release.

The City of Columbia experienced a six-inch water main break Monday, which could possibly have resulted in the bacterial contamination of the water, the release said.

Anyone with questions may call the City of Columbia Customer Care Center at (803) 545-3300.
