One person killed Wednesday in Lexington County accident

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident Wednesday afternoon on US 378 in Lexington County that left one person dead and another with minor injuries.

The collision occurred around 3:25 pm on US 378 in front of the Lake Murray Baptist Church, near Devin Drive.

The female driver of a 1998 Chevy sports utility vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene, highway patrol spokesman David Jones said.

A 56-year-old resident of Inman, SC was driving the other vehicle, a 2002 Ford Truck. He was taken to Lexington Hospital Center for treatment of minor injuries, Jones said.

No other details about the accident were released as of Wednesday night.
